Is 2022 a new year for cake creativity?

While 2021 may have been the hodge-podge in-pandemic-limbo year of brownie boxes, biscoff-this and biscoff-that, 2022 is already showing signs of a new lease of life for cake creativity. As we emerge out of lockdown and start celebrating more IRL there seems to be a bigger appetite for celebrating in style, even if on a smaller scale.

Is it cake a remake?

The show was just too irresistible. Obviously Is It Cake? cannot simply be a remake of the viral videos, because that would just be several hours of people revealing that things that don’t look like cakes are actually cake, which would probably get old after about 20 seconds.

What is a cake contest?

The bakers are all highly skilled and reveal the products and processes that can transform a cake into a thing. It’s fascinating to watch. Then some judges come in and have to guess whether the cake is real or not. In the event of a tie, the judges eat the cake to see which tastes best.
